Education: Doug
graduated with honors from the University of California
at Irvine with a Bachelor of Artsdegree in EnglishLiterature and
philosophy (minor), and was installed as a member of Phi Beta Kappa,
an honorary academic society. In 2001 he graduated in the top 17%
of his class from the University ofSan
Diego School of Law. He became a member of the California State
Bar in December of 2001, and is now also a member of the Trusts & Estates
Section of the California State Bar and the Orange County Bar Association.
Experience: After
the bar exam, Doug worked for the Law Offices of Steven J. Perrello,
the Law Offices of George H. Bye, and the Law Offices of Moss,
Hovden & Lindsay, where he practiced criminal appeals, family
law, and primarily civil litigation, including, but not limited
to, cases involving elder abuse, medical malpractice, and general
negligence.
In 2006 Doug opened his own practice specializing
in estate planning, which he finds very rewarding. He helps people
protect and manage their assets and on death, transfer them to
loved ones efficiently (e.g., eliminating or minimizing taxes and
avoiding probate fees). He can also help structure gifts to disabled
or aged people receiving public benefits in a manner that would
not disrupt their benefits. He assesses each client’s financial
and familial situation, and applying the laws, designs an estate
plan that would achieve the client’s goals. |
